I took too many pictures in this morning's drive for one post! This is the first part of the drive, which was quite birdy. Just driving a bit out of camp we saw........

This was our only time seeing this hornbill, so it was special to us.

We drove a bit further, actually trying to get somewhere, but Sam heard this little guy and stopped to find it.
|
Brubru |
We saw a zillion bulbuls, but they are stubbornly against photos. This one was badly backlit.
|
Black-eyed Bulbul |
There was just a huge flock of swallows around a very specific area. I thought it means a hatch-out, Sam said that traditionally it means rain is coming.
|
Pearl-breasted Swallows |
Look at this handsome lark! It spent quite some time calling.........
|
Rufous-naped Lark |
..... and shuffling its feathers! It was quite something.

This is the most contemplative buffalo I have ever seen.

Nursing baby!

This zebra could be a professional model.

It turns out these weird white things are frog nests. We saw them several times.

Frog Nests |
Look at where we stopped for coffee! Weaver nests! Woo-hoo!!!!!! Oh, I was so so so happy. There were also swallows flying around but they were too fast for me.
|
Human and Weaver Nests |
This vulture was not too fast for me.
|
African White-backed Vulture |
This sunbird nearly was!
|
Scarlet-chested Sunbird (possibly) |
We were not close to the weaver nests so the pictures are not great, but I loved that coffee stop. :-)

Sam stopped us to look at this beautiful umbrella tree. Foreshadowing?
